Origins of Reflexology

The Chinese are said to have used an early form of reflexology more than 5,000 years ago in their use of pressure therapies.  Egyptian tomb artwork also shows foot massage, indication that working on the feet is an ancient practice, used in many cultures.  Modern reflexology, where the feet are divided into zones corresponding to the areas within the body, was developed by Eunice D Ingham in the 1930s.

Reflexology is based on the principle that reflex points on the soles, tops and sides of the feet correspond to areas throughout the body.  I work on these reflex points with my thumbs, fingers and knuckles, using specialised massage techniques, to help correct imbalances throughout your body.

A reflexology treatment lasts for approximately an hour.  As it's just the feet I work on, you remain fully clothed, simply removing your shoes and socks.  You are invited to relax on a reclining treatment couch and your feet will be cleansed at the start of the treatment.  Then a variety of reflexology techniques will be used and adapted to suit your needs.
