About Marie Dunn

I work in an Integrative way which means that the therapy and any techniques will be adapted according to the client’s individual need; there will always be a focus. I use Person-Centred skills to demonstrate empathy, a non-judgemental attitude and to establish a good rapport with my client. I have a psychodynamic understanding of mental health to facilitate individuals who choose to gain greater insight about themselves which might include processing of losses and trauma.

I have much experience of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy; this modality may support a client in breaking negative thinking-feeling-behaviour cycles to achieve welcome life changes. Screening tools to evidence client progress may be utilised, if desired. I also practise Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) popularly known as ‘tapping’ which has helped clients gain improvement from symptoms of anxiety and low mood.

Specialism in grief therapy and counselling for depression. I have a special interest in Attachment theory and its role in the therapeutic alliance to aid recovery after loss or bereavement.
