The Ullet Road Eco Offices are close to Sefton Park and the Smithdown Road shops and cafes. They are ideally located for public transport, with buses to all corners of the city and beyond. Together with bike racks, some car parking on site and more locally, they make it easy for you and your clients to travel to your place of work.
Designed for tranquility, the bespoke triple glaze lead light windows remove noise from a busy traffic intersection. The use of natural paints, plasters and tiles in construction and the choice of an ‘eco cleaning ensure that no volatile organic compounds or other harmful chemicals are present in the building. The use of natural organic products in treatments, and the building’s integration with nature, with its fruit trees and growing areas, green roof, grass parking spaces and bird nesting boxes all contribute to its ‘eco’ ethos. The offices, based in a former medical centre, have been completely renovated and extended over the last three years to eliminate the need for fossil fuels. So far, their considerable onsite generation of renewable solar energy has more than sufficed for heating, lighting and appliances. Even electricity needed when the sun isn’t shining is sourced through Good Energy from 100% renewable wind, solar and hydro generation. Stopping carbon emissions through eco conversions of our old buildings plays an important role in healing our damaged planet. The building’s simple, elegant style and its healing aura will help those whose work is to heal the people entering it.
The Eco offices have already attracted therapists, both holistic and psychological, who share rooms for psychological therapy and holistic treatments. In January 2015, a further 17.3m3 treatment room (186 square feet) and hydraulic bed was made available for holistic therapists and other health professionals working one-to-one or with small groups. Users are able to choose mornings, afternoon or evening slots between 7am and 9pm, either on a regular ‘same day each week’ basis, or individual sessions.
Weekend use from 8.30am to 5pm for training and other group work is also available, with break-out rooms if needed. The site, building and room entrances are all wheelchair accessible, with a disabled WC just outside the treatment room. There is a second, large, WC and shower room. A door entry system for individual offices is provided.
The Eco Offices share a kitchen and meeting room, both with extending tables, together with outdoor seating and tables for use in the summer. The kitchen and meeting room can be used as waiting areas as well as socialising or meeting space. All rooms have phone and data points, with landline numbers available if required. Wireless and cabled internet access, together with other shared business equipment – fax/copier, shredder and PC, are provided. Apples, pears and blackberries are harvested for communal gatherings in the autumn. A single external ‘garden office’ is also available, with excellent natural and artificial lighting suitable for artists and musicians as well as other creative or business users.
